The schedule is finally set for Homecoming 2019. From Friday, Oct. 11 through Saturday, Oct. 12, Edinboro University will be celebrating “One Hundred Years of Art” with numerous spirit-filled activities such as the annual parade, community lunch, the Kilted Mile, alumni events, the football game, and more.

This year’s theme was inspired by the 100-year anniversary of the campus art department. It was established in 1920 when it first began training art educators. Since then, the department has expanded and now offers around 14 different majors, with its animation program ranking 17th among public schools on a national level in 2016.

The annual Kilted Mile run is a one-mile race along the course of the Homecoming parade before the actual parade begins. If you register by Sept. 29, you get a free T-shirt. Prices are $10 for youth and EUP students, and $15 for any non-EUP student. You can register online until Oct. 9, or the morning of the event.

Check in starts at 9:30 a.m., and the actual race begins at 10:30. Anyone who shows up in a kilt will be given the chance to win the Scottish Pride Award.

The Office of Alumni Engagement will also continue the long-standing tradition of the 28th Annual Alumni & Friends Golf Outing at Culbertson Hills Golf Resort. On Oct. 11 at 8 a.m., all Edinboro alumni and friends have the chance to play golf, reunite with old friends and receive free entry into the alumni barbecue that’s occurring later on that day.

For those just interested in the barbecue, it is being held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for all graduates (and guests) with a fee of $15 per person. RSVP by Oct. 4 to reserve your spot. Dress is casual.

You can find the Office of Alumni Engagement tents with food and music on the lawn between Doucette and the Bruce Gallery, two buildings that play a vital role to the art department at Edinboro.

From Oct. 10-13, all alumni will also have the opportunity to rent a campus room. If interested, contact ‘Boro Housing for more information.

The Homecoming parade and festival will be held on Oct. 12. The university encourages members of the Edinboro business community to participate as local vendors, and they can sign up by completing the form found on homecoming.edinboro.edu. The parade begins at 11 a.m., with festivities occurring from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A few of the activities being offered include a Kidzone for younger children and local vendors. Downtown Edinboro is also offering a community party from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be music and more local vendors.

The Alumni and Friends Tailgate at Sox Harrison Stadium begins before the annual Homecoming football game and runs until 5 p.m. This year, the Fighting Scots will take on Mercyhurst University. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
