The Edinboro club equestrian team has competed in three events so far this semester. On Feb. 11, the team took part in an event hosted by the Clarion University and California University of Pennsylvania equestrian teams at Bloomfield Stables in Belle Vernon.

Megan Rajecki highlighted Edinboro’s day as she placed first in the advanced walk/trot/canter event. Sarah West placed second in the open jumping event, while Braden St. Clair placed third in intermediate jumping and fourth in the intermediate flat event.

The equestrian team also competed in a two-day Intercollegiate Horse Show Association event at Grier School in Tyrone on Feb. 17-18.

Lauren Michalchik highlighted the first day for the team with a first-place finish in the alumni division of the jumping event and a fourth-place finish in the alumni flat event. In the open division, West placed third in jumping and fourth in the flat event.

On the second day, Michalchik again impressed in the alumni division, finishing fourth in jumping and fifth in the flat event, but St. Clair outshined all by finishing second in the jumping and flat events in the intermediate division. West earned a pair of third-place finishes in the open division, and Rajecki also had a third-place finish in novice jumping.

On March 4-5, the team competed in an IHSA event at the Stonegate Equestrian Center in Coolville, Ohio.

Michalchik paced the team, finishing first and third in the fences and flat competitions, respectively. Samantha Watson took second on fences and third on the flat in the novice competition.

Rajecki and West rounded out the team’s top performances with third-place finishes on the fences course in the novice and open divisions.
