Com Truise Announces 'Silicon Tare' by Britton Rozzelle
‘Silicon Tare’ is out April 1 on Ghostly Int.

Fresh off the start of a tour with STRFKR, New- Jersey/Los Angeles based graphic designer and electronic artist, Com Truise has officially unveiled his new EP, titled “Silicon Tare,” due out on Ghostly International in April. In addition to the news, the first single from the album, “Diffraction,” was released.

“Diffraction” follows much of the same formula that Com Truise’s last EP, “Wave 1,” used — blending his signature “slow-motion funk” with beats and synth overtones that harken back to the neon-drenched soundtrack of the ‘80s. Being a follow-up and conclusion to the themes and nebulous story of “Wave 1,” the similarities in tone, pace, and overall feel make perfect sense. The track has an incredibly infectious hook, one that I’ve been playing on repeat since first listening to it earlier in the week — which, admittedly, is something I find happening with most of his songs.

The “Wave 1” formula isn’t perfect though, as “Diffraction” suffers in the same places. Unlike Truise’s older music, both “Wave 1” and “Diffraction” feel incredibly repetitive, which in some cases can be a good thing; however, the last minute in particular seems to drone on much longer than is necessary, somewhat spoiling this otherwise fun track.

Regardless, the retro-future soundtracks that Com Truise creates provide something for lovers of electronic funk to occupy themselves with until the release of “Silicon Tare” in April.

“Silicon Tare” is available to pre-order now through Ghostly International’s webstore, or on comtruise.com.
