On Friday, the Fighting Scots women’s volleyball team took a loss at McComb Fieldhouse against the Seton Hill Griffins after a five-set match.
The first set went to Seton Hill with a score of 25-16, and the second went to Edinboro with a score of 27- 25. After each team had taken a win, Seton Hill broke the tie and won the third set with a score of 25-18. Edinboro came back in the fourth game with a score of 25-18. With both teams having won two games each, the match went into a fifth game in which Seton Hill came out on top of with a score of 15-7.
Although this game was a loss for the Fighting Scots, the players themselves put up impressive stats. Freshman Cierah Jackson had 19 kills and 2 blocks. Senior Challen Litwiler had 13 kills, 1 block and 18 digs in the duration of the match. Throughout the game, redshirt junior Tessa Sikora had a total of 10 kills and 4 blocks.
The Fighting Scots returned to McComb Fieldhouse again Saturday to face California University of Pennsylvania and won in a 3-1 match. This game went into four sets; Edinboro took the first two with scores of 25-19 and 25-21. Cal took the third game with a score of 25-15, but Edinboro was able to come back with a win in the fourth with a score of 25-19.
Litwiler had a total of 14 kills, 1 ace, 1 block, 15 digs and 1 return in this match. Jackson had a total of 13 kills and 4 blocks. Junior Hannah Cantrill ended the game with 7 kills, 1 block and 1 assist.
After this weekend, Edinboro’s volleyball team stood at 3-3 in the PSAC. The Fighting Scots returned to McComb Fieldhouse again on Tuesday to face Slippery Rock University, where they fell 3-0. They will travel to Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Friday and Clarion University on Saturday.
