Edinboro Police have confirmed that 10-12 gunshots were fired on Feb. 21 in the area of Washington Street and Cypress Street on Lakeside in Edinboro. Sgt. Landon Silva, officer Kyle Henderson and officer Garrett Reinsel initially arrived to deal with a large gathering of about 75 people, according to their report.

When police arrived, people began leaving the scene, with some running through the neighborhood, and others getting in their vehicles to leave.

Officers then observed a car accident nearby and conducted a traffic stop. “The accident was related to someone leaving the party,” Police Chief Al Donahue confirmed. Officers heard the gunshots while investigating the accident “fired from a short distance away from them,” according to their report.

They searched the area and contacted the Edinboro University Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police for assistance. According to police, “several patrol units searched Lakeside neighborhood as well as other neighborhoods in the Borough of Edinboro and Washington Township.”

When asked if the shots were directly related to the gathering and those leaving, Donahue said it’s “something that is still under active investigation ... I cannot provide information at this time.”

No suspects or witnesses have been identified. To their knowledge, police say that nothing was struck by the gunfire.
