Edinboro University is in search of an undergraduate senior student who will graduate in December 2015 to speak at the winter commencement ceremonies.
Students interested in applying for this opportunity must meet the following criteria: a minimum grade point average of 3.5; a minimum of 60 credits attempted and earned at Edinboro; and completed registration to graduate at the ceremony under consideration.
A graduating senior is chosen to speak at each of the commencement ceremonies. An email was recently sent to students who meet the above criteria from Dr. Michael Hannan, provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students are encouraged to check their official university email accounts to see if they received this invitation.
If the student received an email about being a speaker, then they are able to submit a proposal to serve as the student speaker. The winter commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday Dec. 12, 2015 in Cole Auditorium.
If you are considering speaking at commencement, send or deliver a one-page synopsis of the address you propose to deliver to the office of the provost, located on the first floor of Reeder Hall, no later than Thursday Oct. 29. Students can also email the synopsis to Sheila Taylor, at email@example.com.
A committee of academic deans and students will review the proposals and select the finalists. Each finalist will be contacted to arrange for a brief oral presentation of his or her topic to the committee.
