On Feb. 5, the Fighting Scots basketball teams faced off against the Gannon Golden Knights in Edinboro. Before the game, many family members of players, as well as Edinboro coaches, went to the Edinboro Hotel Bar to participate in the EUKnighted “hoopy hour.”

Both at the Hotel Bar and at the game, donations were being accepted to benefit the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home, with veterans and active-duty military members also being given free admission to the doubleheader. Many prominent figures and faculty were present at the pre-game event, including Edinboro University President Dr. Guiyou Huang.

After the games, women’s basketball player Michaela Barnes, as well as women’s basketball Student Assistant Coach Isaiah Smiley spoke about the night.

“I think that it’s a really positive event. We went up there (the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home) on Sunday with the girls and we just talked with some of the veterans, [and] played bingo with them. It was nice to just sit down and get to know them,” said Smiley.

Both commented that they hadn’t seen McComb Fieldhouse that full in years.

This is the second time the two universities have teamed up for an EUKnighted event.
