The Edinboro University Student Government Association (EUSGA) has extended their 2020-21 budget submission deadline to Friday, April 17. Budgets are approved through EUSGA’s finance committee for campus clubs, club sports and event committees.
The original deadline was March 20, according to an email from EUSGA President Nicholas Helfer. The email also included the EUSGA financial procedures document.
The decision came following the suspension of all in-person university activities and classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each organization wishing to submit a budget request should be specific and “realistic” in their plans and expectations for the academic year, according to the procedures document. It reads, “There are a lot of groups asking for money, and inflated budgets will need to be revised.”
Once the request is ready, it must be submitted through Engage EU. On Engage EU, it states, "Go to your finance section and under request, select: Budget Request." Questions on the process should be directed to finance@edinborosga.com. There is also a step-by-step tutorial available through the EUSGA budget office.
To obtain funding for a campus club or organization, it must be recognized and in good standing with EUSGA, along with having an updated page on Engage EU.
Not all funding for clubs has to come from EUSGA, as it is recommended each group should have their own form of revenue generation. The procedures document lists member dues, fundraisers and club events as acceptable sources of club revenue.

“Our hope is to really keep the traditions that are sacred, the campuses that have their beauty and their pride, but also create something for the future. That is going to be kind of a tricky balance to figure out. I think we can do it.” |
