If you can’t feasibly leave campus to get to a movie theater in order to watch some of the newer hits, don’t worry. The University Programming Board (UPB) is showing six movies throughout the spring 2020 semester, with all screenings in the Scot Cinema.

Each movie is shown a total of seven times, and the schedule runs as follows: 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a second showing on both Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. The final showing each week happens on Sunday at 2 p.m.

From Jan. 29 to Feb. 2, UPB presented mystery film “Knives Out.” The movie features detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) trying to solve the murder of a famous mystery writer. The prime suspects are his family.

“Harriet” will be playing from Feb. 12-16. Based on Harriet Tubman’s life, it chronicles her journeys to free both herself and others from slavery.
From Feb. 26 to March 1, the widely controversial and Oscar-nominated “Joker” will hit Scot Cinema. The movie focuses on the famous Batman villain’s background, as well as some of the reasons for his descent into madness.

From March 18-22, Disney sequel “Frozen 2” will be on screen. The movie follows Elsa as she goes on a journey of self-discovery, and Ana as she desperately attempts to find her sister — again.

The newest entry in the Star Wars franchise, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” will also be gracing the screen from April 1-5. This is the final movie of the newest Star Wars trilogy, which provides an end to the battle between the resistance and the first order.

Lastly, “Jumanji: The Next Level” will be shown from April 15-19. The sequel features the high schoolers who had previously beat the game deciding to go back in, only to find it broken and fighting back. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are now joined by Danny Glover and Danny DeVito.

Entry is free for those with current Edinboro University IDs and $1 for general admission. Each showing includes free popcorn.
If you are someone who enjoys watching movies with the captions on, closed captioning is being offered at the Wednesday showing at 8 p.m., and again at the Friday 5 p.m. showing.
