President H. Fred Walker announced today he is removing the letter of possible retrenchment, which was issued to APSCUF on March 30 of this year.
“My work over the past 14 months since my tenure began as President of Edinboro University has been dedicated to advancing this great institution to ensure a high quality educational experience for our students,” Walker said in an APSCUF news release. “Further, I stated at the time the letter of retrenchment was issued that we would work together to explore all alternatives to retrenchment for the betterment of the university. Today we have achieved a major step forward toward those goals."
Dr. Marc Sylvester, Edinboro University APSCUF President, said, “We have always said our work is all about the students.”
He continued: "With today’s announcement we provide assurance and stability to the students that their faculty members will continue to deliver high quality classroom experiences. I thank President Walker for being true to his word when he said he would explore all alternatives to retrenchment and for providing an inclusive environment in our work together that allowed us to come to this positive outcome for all parties. EU’s future is indeed bright.”
“I thank and commend APSCUF for their shared commitment through our work together over the past months to student success and the importance of continuing to build a positive future for EU,” Walker said.
In an email sent to university faculty, staff, parents and students, Walker stated he is planning an “important announcement next Thursday, Sept. 7, where I will outline a path forward for the university.”
