In a meeting on Feb. 19, the General McLane School Board approved the fall athletic coaches and their contracts. They also agreed to pursue an agreement with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office to retain School Resource Officer Jose Montes.
The Board previously asked General McLane School District administration to create a new evaluation system for all its coaches for the 2020-21 school year.
GM Athletic Director Rob Kennerknecht and General McLane High School Principal Dan Mennow presented the board with its new evaluation process at the Study Session held on Feb. 12. It includes student exit interviews, student surveys, parent surveys and an evaluation done by Mennow and Kennerknecht following each season.
The board conducted a roll-call vote for the motion to approve the football coaches’ contracts, separate from the remaining nine fall coaches’ contracts. The motion passed 5-2, with James Bucksbee and Amy Eisert voting against the motion. The other motion for the rest of the fall coaches and their contracts passed 7-0.
The board also proposed a motion that would allow district administration to schedule a meeting to suggest some sort of agreement or contract with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office to retain the services of its School Resource Officer José Montes.
Montes has worked in the district since 2017. Montes is one of seven deputy sheriffs who works full time as a school resource officer through the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
