On Monday, Feb. 11 in Compton Hall 107A, Edinboro University Student Government Association (EUSGA) held their second meeting of the spring semester. EUSGA will continue to host its biweekly meetings on Mondays, with the starting time changed to 4:30 p.m. and the new location of Compton.
EUSGA first announced nine potential new organizations on campus. More information on these organizations will be in a future issue of The Spectator.
They then announced that they’ve revised their old constitution. To find out more about the revised constitution, it can be found at BoroSync, first under SGA and then under files.
EUSGA also announced that they’ve condensed their bylaws from 22 pages down to 10. These bylaws determine how they classify clubs and organizations, as well as listing job descriptions for student government positions.
The IFC (Inter-Fraternity Counsel) announced an event on March 24 called Dodge the Dark. It is a dodgeball tournament benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Pittsburgh. They aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer by having glow-in-the-dark T-shirts and dodge balls in a pitch-black room. There are 8-10 people on a team and registration is $250 for the team. You can also register for $25 a person. They recommend teams raise funds by asking businesses to sponsor them. By doing so, the companies can use their donation as a tax write-off.
The event will take place in the Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Arena (the dome).
Alpha Phi Omega is currently collecting cards for hospitalized children. They are collecting them up until Feb. 26, and it is through a company called Cards for Hospitalized Kids. This company sends collected cards to children in all 50 states.
Residence Hall Association reminded attendees that they have general assembly meetings every Thursday in Butterfield 300 at 7 p.m. This association is not just for RAs; it is for anyone who lives on campus or is affiliated as a student. These people have the same voting rights as that of the RAs.
EUSGA finished the night by announcing that a new club known as the Cycling Club was recently approved. There will be a flyer up within the week with contact information regarding the club.
The next EUSGA meeting will take place Monday, Feb. 25 at 4:30 p.m. in Compton 107A.
