The Edinboro softball team was not able to capture a win against 13th ranked California University (Pa.) this weekend, as they lost game one, 8-0, and game two, 3-1.
Game One: California 8, Edinboro 0
The Scots went up against reigning PSAC West Pitcher of The Year, Alex Sagl, who threw a complete game, a shutout, and moved to 9-1 on the year.
The Vulcans scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to take an early lead.
Edinboro had runners on first and third in the fourth inning, but were unable to capitalize.
The Vulcans scored two runs in both the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning to put it away.
Game Two: California 3, Edinboro 1
Brooke Callaghan scored the lone run in game two for Edinboro with a lead-off home run in the top of the second.
The Vulcans responded with their own solo home run the next inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Vulcans scored the game winning run with a sacrifice fly to right field by Jacquelyn Fowler.
Kerri Stevens started for the Scots and pitched six innings while falling to 2-3 on the season.
