On Nov. 21, both the Edinboro men and women’s swim teams lost to Bloomsburg in a meet at the natatorium inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The losses dropped both squads to identical 1-2 records.
Josh Beabout captured two victories, while Luke Frederick had one as the men’s team lost 114-85 to Huskies.
Beabout won the 1650 freestyle in a time of 16:58.98. The team of Beabout, Alex Shugarts, Micah Cattell, and Francis Folz took first place in the 200 freestyle relay, coming in at 1:30.03. Beabout swam a time of 4:57.80 in the 500 freestyle to finish in second place.
Folz and Cattell came in second and third, respectively, in the 100 freestyle. Folz had a time of 47.96 seconds, less than a second from the winner, Bloomsburg’s Kyle Dix, while Cattell posted a time of 49.03. Cattell grabbed second place in the 200 freestyle with a 1:47.21, just missing out on first place by .25 seconds.
Frederick won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.06. Second to him was teammate Michael O’Polka with a time of 1:08.59.
The men had nine PSAC qualifying performances from Cattell, Frederick, Justin Ransel, Marcus Grosso, Folz, and Beabout.
On the women’s side, the Fighting Scots notched three victories in their 118-76 loss.
Junior Holly Stein and sophomore Emily Kling finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. Stein swam a 1:06.82 while Kling came in at 1:13.60.
The team of Morgan Joseph, Breanna Purnell, Charlotte Drozda, and Casey Tokarski won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:43.37.
Freshman Anastasiia Semkiv took first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.33 seconds.
Purnell finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.71.
The women had three PSAC qualifying performances from Purnell, Semkiv and Stein.
Now the Fighting Scots prepare for their biggest meet of the season, the Wooster Invitational. The meet takes place in Wooster, Ohio on Dec. 3-5. The events will be held at Wooster High School. Edinboro has at least 15 swimmers who have posted at least one PSAC qualifying time.
