As homecoming festivities continued around campus last weekend, the Edinboro Fighting Scots volleyball team traveled away both Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the team traveled to California University of Pennsylvania, a match in which the Scots would fall 3-0. In the first set Cal would get the win 25-16. The Fighting Scots would come back in the second set, but fall with a score 25-21. Cal would take the sweep in the third set with a 25-20 score. The Vulcans record moved to 11-6 overall.
Underclassmen Cierah Jackson (12 kills), Alicia Eldredge (29 assists and 8 digs) and Sally Sterkel (4 kills and 1 ace) all put points on the board this match. Senior Megan Screptock (6 kills, one ace, 3 assists and 12 digs) also put marks on the board in the match. The Fighting Scots moved on to their match on Saturday with their record sitting at 8-7 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC.
Edinboro continued their travels to Seton Hill to face the Griffins at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Going into the match, the Griffins sat at 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the PSAC.
Seton Hill would win the first set of the match 25-19. Edinboro would come back but fall short in the second set 25-21 and again in the third where the score ended 27-25.
Eldredge recorded a total of 24 assists, 6 kills and 8 digs in this match, while Jackson would have 10 kills and 4 digs. Hannah Cantrill had 7 kills and 2 blocks in this loss.
After this match, Edinboro would move on to 8-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play. On Tuesday, the team will again travel to Slippery Rock, but the team will return home for matches this weekend. On Friday they will face Clarion University at 6 p.m. and on Saturday they will face Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 1 p.m.
