Lady Scots basketball was back in action this weekend as they took on Slippery Rock at McComb Fieldhouse. The team secured a win against The Rock, 85-64, maintaining a comfortable lead of 10 points for the majority of the game.

The win was secured by a collective effort, with five players scoring in the double digits. Michaela Barnes led the Scots in scoring by obtaining not only 25 points, but also going 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. Jontay Walton (13 points) ended the game with a career-high of 10 rebounds. Bridgett Shaffer (11), Ciara Rosten (19) and Michelle Jahn (17) all ended the game in double figures, as well.

Despite outscoring Edinboro in the second quarter, Slippery Rock was not able to keep pace in the second half.

Edinboro would outscore Slippery Rock, 22-18, in the third quarter, and then 22-11 in the fourth. Edinboro also led in not only points-in-the-paint (32), but points scored off of turnovers (11), as well.

Edinboro’s victory over The Rock places them at 12-5 overall and 8- 4 in the PSAC West. The Fighting Scots are next set to face off against Salem University, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 2, with tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
