Though the most recent Edinboro University Student Government Association (EUSGA) meeting lasted less than 30 minutes, three topics were discussed.
After a no-show from ROTC, they face losing a “large amount of money,” Matt Russell, the vice president of finance, said.
ROTC had an appointment at the Feb. 26 gathering, and the meeting began a few minutes late as the council waited for the organization to arrive. They will have one chance to reschedule or they will automatically be denied the money they are requesting.
Following ROTC’s spot, Wood Furniture Club presented. They were requesting money to attend the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. The trip would be to New York City from May 20-23. The club plans to leave on May 19. At the event, colleges from over 40 countries will be in attendance and 12 leading colleges will be showcasing their work. Additionally, the event will include many workshops.
With hotel fees and bus transportation added together, the cost of the trip is $4,050, explained the club. The organization has raised $250 on its own and still needs to deposit $100 of it.
When considering approval for the trip, Eric Sheppard, SGA Supervisor, said something to remember is that the event would be taking place after the end of the semester.
In the end, because of funding caps, the Wood Furniture Club was approved for about half of their asking price; $2,656 plus $215.28 for gas.
Sheppard also discussed the functionality of the executive board. Following the loss of Lisa Englert last month, the advisor of finance, the board no longer has a full staff.
The next EUSGA meeting will be held on Monday, March 5, in the Pogue Student Center at 6 p.m.
