The Erie Art Museum will be hosting a night of workshops for pre- kindergarten through 12th- grade educators, offering resources to bring art and culture to their lesson plans. The session will be held March 16 from 4 to 8 p.m., with day- of registration at 3:30 p.m.

According to a release from the museum, “teachers will explore vibrant art quilts from the exhibit ‘Earth Stories,’ delve into Erie’s unique duck decoys, and learn how Erie’s folk artists are sustaining their folk art.” This will add three and a half hours towards the Act 48 hours to any teacher in attendance.

The night will also host an exhibit by quilter and illustrator Susan Shie of Wooster, Ohio. Shie — who was awarded “Teacher of
the Year” from Professional Quilter Magazine in 2008 and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council — will teach a workshop called “Sassy Drawing 101.”

Other workshops and exhibits available at the event include the art quilt exhibit, Erie duck decoys, “Kids as Curators,” and works by Sergei Isupov.

The event is $20 per person and includes dinner. Advanced registration is requested, not required.

To register, call (814) 459- 5477 or go to erieartmuseum. org.
