Edinboro University announced earlier today that it has an interim president who will replace Dr. Julie E. Wollman when she resigns in January.

According to an email sent at about 9:30 a.m., Dr. David J. Werner was chosen by the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education to serve Edinboro University as the interim president. This will be effective as of Jan. 19.

Werner, according to the email, has experience as an interim president.  He served as Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s (IUP) interim president from August 2010 to June 2012 and previously at Mansfield University for an academic year.

He also has experience as a chancellor, provost, and professor, and he served as interim provost at IUP during 2008.

“This experience within the state system will serve us well as we all work together to achieve continued brisk progress towards our objectives in this transitional period,” the email from Dennis R. Frampton reads.

This announcement comes after Wollman announced in early November that she’d be resigning in January to take a job as president at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Tracy Geibel is the executive editor for The Spectator.
