The Edinboro Fighting Scots women’s volleyball team fell to the Shippensburg University Raiders last Friday in a three set match hosted in Edinboro’s McComb Fieldhouse, but then advanced their record to 12-3 as they defeated Millersville University the following day in three sets.

Coming into the Shippensburg match-up, the Fighting Scots had momentum from their previous PSAC win against Lock Haven; the team’s first PSAC win of the season.

However, that momentum didn’t carry the women far as they lost to the Raiders in three straight sets: 25-22; 25-19; and again 25-19.

Senior Challen Litwiler led the Scots in kills, 12, and digs, 13, with freshman Cierah Jackson following close behind with eight kills. Sydney Trathen, senior setter for the Scots, led in assists, having 32 for the night.

On Saturday, the Fighting Scots women’s volleyball team faced Millersville University and won 3-0. The match took place in McComb Fieldhouse with a start time of noon.

The Scots took the first match of the game with a score of 25-16 and matched that score for their second win. The third match ended with a score of 25-20, also went to the Scots, completing their three game sweep. This brings the team to a 12-3 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC record.

The team will next play Seton Hill University Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. in McComb Fieldhouse and then California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday at 1 p.m. in McComb Fieldhouse.
