At approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a destructive fire broke out at the Riverside: The Inn at Cambridge Springs.

According to GoErie, an employee called the general manager, Jeremy Ball, after hearing the smoke alarm go off and smelling smoke. Employees and residents of the inn were evacuated, as the 132-year-old building was engulfed in flames.

Various news sources reported a firefighter and pedestrian were injured, but there has been no update on the extent of their injuries.

Approximately 20 fire departments from surrounding counties helped battle the fire, which was still partially burning as of 10:30 a.m on Tuesday.

According to Erie News Now, evidence leads the investigators to believe the accidental fire began in the kitchen and spread to the rest of the building. However, the official cause of the fire is still undetermined.
