Dr. Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson will serve as Edinboro University's interim president following the Jan. 1 departure of Dr. Guiyou Huang. Pehrsson will keep her position as Clarion University president, creating the most explicit bond yet in the planned Edinboro, Clarion and California University integration.
According to a PASSHE press release, "Pehrsson’s achievements at Clarion include the highest retention rate of first-to-second-year students in 29 years; the highest retention rate of second-to-third-year students since Clarion began recording such data in 1990; the best fundraising total since 2013; and the establishment of a new Office of Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs."
“This appointment puts Edinboro at the vanguard of the System redesign, allowing us to show everyone what can be achieved through collaboration,” said Barbara Chaffee, Edinboro Council of Trustees chair, in that same release.
Pehrsson holds degrees in the arts, nursing and liberal studies, including two master's degrees and a doctorate in education. She has worked as a "frontline health care provider, a professionally licensed counselor, and health care administrator."
Stay tuned for an interview with Pehrsson.
A later email confirmed that the recognition ceremony will be held at Sox Harrison Stadium, rain or shine. In addition, those that attend will be allowed to bring two guests. |
